ADOPT!

You are eligible to adopt a poodle from MSPR if you are a Michigan resident or a resident of a neighboring state.  We do not transport or ship dogs. You must be willing and able to pick up your dog and meet us face-to-face.

This site is not updated with available dogs. We do not place dogs on a first-come, first served basis. There are a large number of people interested in adopting Standard Poodles and many are adopted before they can be posted.  If we don't have matching applications on file, we will post any available dogs on our Facebook page.   Because we work from applications to match a particular poodle’s needs with the capabilities of a prospective owner, it is important that we have your completed application on file. You are always free to message us if you see a dog that captures your interest.

The wait for a Standard Poodle can be long, but once you are selected for consideration for a particular poodle, things happen quickly.  It is important that you have already discussed the decision to adopt with the necessary people. Make sure your voicemail is set up and is not full, and be sure to respond to emails and texts, quickly.  We are often in a rush to place dogs into new homes, and your selection to adopt may be dependent on your ability to respond and react.

100% of adoption fees are used for the veterinary care, and the rehabilitation and well-being of surrendered Standard Poodles.

Before dogs are released for adoption, they are:

  • Spayed or Neutered

  • Heart-worm tested and treated (if positive)

  • Current on all vaccinations

  • Bathed and Groomed (if needed)

  • Treated for any medical issues

Based upon the cost of obtaining similar services from a commercial veterinarian, our adoption fees are a bargain and most often do NOT cover the cost of the care provided by MSPR.

Adoption fees vary:

  • Dogs under 4 years of age, $400-$450

  • Dogs 4 to 6 years of age $350.00-$400

  • Older Dogs $300.00

  • Fees for senior and special needs dogs can be less and are often waived altogether.
